Link, Defender of Greed

Post by GlassAlchemy on Wed Apr 20, 2011 11:54 pm

This is a story I wrote because I was tired of Ganondorf being the bad guy. It's not any where NEAR finished, but this is all I've managed to write without trailing off and making no sense. First I'll post the preview, then the intro, then Chapter 1. Mind you, this is a short story, so it's short, also none of it is canon so dont be posting how it's all wrong, I know it is. Many of you may have seen this preview before, a site patron Link64, a good friend of mine may have shown it to you. If so, gratz, enjoy.

Preview: Link, defender
of greed. Zelda a spoiled blonde with nary the ability to fathom the terrible fates
people succumb to beyond the walls of her kingdom. And her father, a man who
couldn’t save a dying race because it would violate the norms of his kingdom.
Yes, Ganondorf, though evil, did request sanction for his people. When refused
he fought for them and what he thought was right, and he died doing so. But
before he died, he was able to pass his terrible power to a child. His name,
Rudo, in commemoration of the dead desert race of the Gerudo. A pale, hateful child
who could only see what was wrong with the world. Born to a dying race just as
his predecessor, he finds the drive in the dark prince's power to use it as a
purifying force to make the greedy pay. To destroy the green clad warrior, to
destroy the spoiled princess, to destroy the ever greedy king and lastly, to
destroy Hyrule. Unlike Ganondorf, Rudo wouldn't ask questions, he wouldn't beg.
He wouldn't taint his pride or his ideals. His only purpose is to destroy those
that destroy the sanction of purity.

That was the preview, this is the intro.

A long time ago in the land of Hyrule, an evil force began consuming
the great kingdom.

Hyrule was a land of prosper and
peace. With a great king and a beautiful princess, the people couldn’t have
been happier. Plants grew exceptionally fast and strong and bore amazing
amounts of crop. People worked happily and came home to their families and a
healthy dinner. Life couldn’t be better.

Seemingly opposite of this great
kingdom was a small village in the mountains. A poor, pathetic little place,
secluded from the world as it sat in a deep, dark valley. Hyrule was a legend
to the poverse people that resided there.

With pale
skin and glaring yellow eyes, the Genwyn, the people of this pitiful little
valley, strove simply to survive. Some gave in to these dreams of a better life
in a bright, happy land and attempted to travel through the mountains that the
Genwyn shared with the hostile rock people the Gorons. The Gorons, massive rock
people, were a constant threat to the pale people. Any attempt of leaving their
small home would ensure a gruesome death to these most desperate of people.

Secluded to
the dark valley, the Genwyn gave in to the inevitable death and receded into
themselves to mourn the rest of their limited days away in melancholic silence.

And here's chapter one. If you guys can convince me, I may actually start writing this again. Chapter 1 is the last of the comprehensible writing I did for this story. I could do more, I might, I dont know.

Over the next few years the Genwyn
became sickly and ill. They grew more pale and gaunt. The village slowed to a
deathly crawl. The will to live was completely eradicated from this pathetic
village.

A
baby cried inside a small house. A woman in her early twenties shuddered and
screamed as the child was forced from her loins. Her hands gripped her
husbands, taking comfort in the warm embrace. The blankets beneath her were
soaked with blood and still more stained the cloth as the child forced itself
out of the woman. The baby wailed loudly as it took it’s first breath. The cord
that connected it to it’s mother was cut, his last ties to his mother as her
last breaths were taken. She stared at the child with a blank stare. She blamed
the child for her misery and death and she hated it. The baby boy lay sobbing
in the arms of the bed maid, the baby’s aunt Clara. The large, imposing woman
sobbed softly herself as she watched her sister take her last breath. She was
too small, to skinny, too ill to carry a child let alone birth one.

Her eyes clouded over and slowly
closed as the mother’s head dropped to rest on her shoulder and her body
slumped in the bed. The father cried for his wife, he was a cowardly man, one
who hadn’t wanted the child and only remained by her side as an abusive spouse.
The bed maid blinked as she looked at the child. His hand seemed to glow
golden. She cradled him with one arm and took his small birth wetted hand in
her own. There, clear as day sat a golden mark, three triangles making a pyramid,
the triforce.

She gasped astonished as the boy
glowed dimly. His small body was malnourished and his skin took on a pale green
complexion. His wails came to become weak whimpers as he was dried of his
mothers’ blood. Even the red that seeped into his skin from the blood didn’t
serve to make him look any healthier. Still he glowed dimly from the power he’d
been blessed with. The bed maid feared though, despite the blessing of the
gods, the boy wouldn’t live through the night.

A dark form lurked outside the
house, his skin dark as night. The light was a blaze to his crimson eyes and he
winced when it shone in his face. Blood dripped from his bestial chest and he
rutted his boar-like tusks against the ground. He knew he was dying, but the
only thing that filled his heart was sadness and hatred. They’d refused his
people salvation then when he was bold enough to fight for them, they
ruthlessly rejected him. The green clad warrior with the damned magic sword, a
defender of greed only. The princess perceived as beautiful, only served as a
monument for which people could stare and have hope, and the king, oh the king,
a loathsome fat man who couldn’t give his ideal world to help a dying race.

He failed
his people and was doomed to die without them, no ceremony, no prayer, just in
a pool of his own blood, having accomplished nothing. His eyes squinted at the
light as the bestial form turned to that of a man. A tall, once intimidating
man with flaming orange hair and a full beard to match. His armor rattled a little
as he limped to the window, attempting to carry himself with what little pride
remained inside him. The child lay squirming in the arms of a large woman. His
hand glowed and shone before the boy was wrapped in a blanket.

Ganondorf
grimaced and growled. His power was given to this sickly boy, a child who would
surely die before his first winter, maybe before even his first sunrise. The
power was purified and passed on. Maybe the boy, if gone uninfluenced, would
end up like them assuming he survived. Ganondorf shook his head slowly, he
couldn’t let this disgrace stand any longer. He’d show the boy the truth, save
him, and allow him to grow with the pain and anguish he himself experienced
now. The boy would be healthy physically but his mind would corrupt and grow
angry. It would yearn for the downfall of those that stood for greed at any
cost. Ganon was unaware of the potential this would give the child, he wanted
only someone to continue his legacy and avenge him and his people.

His bulky
frame moved towards the corner of the house and then to the door. A quick,
strained movement brought the wooden obstruction down beneath his blade as he
stepped over the splintered wood. The bed maid jumped and screamed in surprise,
the man in the corner stood and curled against himself, the woman on the bed
lay ominously still. His eyes focused on the squirming child, it’s movements
were becoming weaker as it continued moving, wasting it’s strength.

“The child,
let me see him…” He ordered the woman, holding out a massive black hand.

She
hesitated, only spawning impatience and irritation from the man.

“Let me see
him!” He bellowed. His fingers numbed as the blood loss started taking a more
noticeable toll on his body. His vision started to fade as well. The woman
shakily handed the boy to the dark prince. Ganondorf felt the weak warmth
radiate from the child. The pure, untainted light of one so gifted surged
through the boy. The baby’s form grew to that of a healthy child, he wailed
once again. Ganon however knew the truth. Untainted was tainted and gifts were
for the greedy. He’d give this boy a curse, a curse to the people of Hyrule and
the world, a curse that would mean the end of the real evil. A purple magic
flowed from the man into the child. The woman squeaked in fear for the boy, she
shuddered as the great man standing before her started to chuckle. It started
as a low rumble in his chest and grew as his head tilted back and the sounds
burst forth defiantly. A moment later it stopped; he cupped the boy in his
hands, holding it towards the woman as he fell to his knees, his legs having
gone numb. “His name is Rudo, my people will not be forgotten. We will be a
plague to the so called king.” Ganondorf slumped as his life started to recede.
The once great warrior was reduced to a pitiful figure on the floor, his chin
against his chest while his red eyes faded to a pale white. The dark eyelids
closed as he died, the moment the king of Hyrule had hoped for. But Ganondorf,
the dark prince, the scourge of darkness, everything evil, would make things
right. He’d right this world, put things back as they should be. Well...Rudo
would.

She watched
the man die, his arms suspended holding the boy as if it were a ritual. The bed
maid took the child and held him close, trying to calm him. His wailing became
hiccups and he mumbled and gurgled like an infant should. Clara looked at the
boy and her body grew cold as the boy looked up at her with crimson eyes and
his mouth twisted into a small, happy smile.
